Mirko, 5 hours after his OP
We joked around that he looked like Hannibal Lecter! lol This was actually a cooling mask. It had tubes attached to it that ran cold water into it and the old water went out and through a machine that cooled it again so that it remained a constant temperature.
He wasn't supposed to take the mask off, but did for a few minutes to let me take a couple of pictures without it. His skin is very yellow and waxy looking, but I assume that's just "hospital skin" color!

he could only open his lips this far, but if you look close, you can see all the elastics going back and forth, up an down attached to his braces to keep his mouth immovable. His right nostril is stretched out because they had the breathing tube in his nose during the operation as they needed his mouth to be free.
This is how he drinks water. Fills up a syringe from a cup and then squirts the water in between the elastics into his mouth.
